My nationalism is as broad as my SWADESHI , I want India’s rise so that the whole world may benefit

Baba Ramdev is a true Swadeshi when it comes to using and making products. This started in 2006 when Baba Ramdev along with Acharya Balkrishna established the Patanjali Ayurved Limited. The objective was to use the science of Ayurveda in coordination with the latest technology. Patanjali deals in personal food and care. They have a huge range of products starting from skin care to food till sanitation. In the year 2016-17, a total of ₹11,526 crores (approx) revenue was made.

They have taken a step ahead and collaborated with state-run BSNL ( Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited) to offer SIM Cards called,” Swadeshi Samriddhi SIM card)”. According to NDTV Profit, BSNL shared on Tuesday the details of the recharge pack called ” BSN-144″. The Patanjali SIM card will have three denominations of ₹ 144, ₹792 and ₹1582. The recharge pack will come with benefits such as unlimited voice calls without roaming, 2GB per day data and 100 SMS per day for the validity period, according to BSNL. The validity period for ₹ 144 is 30 days, for ₹792 is 180 days and for ₹1584 is 365 days. Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev launched the Swadeshi SIM card last Sunday. The cards are now primarily available to the Patanjali staff and will be available to the general public soon.

Times of India mentioned that, Sunil Garg, BSNL Chief General Manager , who was present, praised the tie-up of Patanjali and BSNL. He said, ” Patanjali’s plan is BSNL’s best plan. In Rs 144, one can make unlimited calls from any part of the country. We are giving 2 GB data pack, 100 SMSs. The members of the Patanjali has to just show their identity and there SIM will be activated soon after some paperwork”. Well, it seems a brand new Swadeshi SIM card will soon be entering the market. The success rate can be assumed, by looking how successful and trusted Patanjali is, as a brand name in India.

The Indian Express states, this news is false,  that the SIM cards are available only for the staffs and won’t be issued to the general public. Patanjali has issued a statement saying there is no plan for them to enter the telecom sector at present. The statement adds, “Patanjali has collaborated with BSNL for low rate calls, and other benefits, for its own workers across the country.” According to the official press release, Patanjali’s SIMs are under the company’s ‘Swadeshi’ initiative, which encourages the use of products and services from India. Patanjali claims the internal tie-up with BSNL will further boost the company’s ‘Swadeshi’ initiative.

Whether the news is true or not, could be seen in the coming days, but this did not stop the twitterites to start a debate and also hilarious memes are all over the social media. Let’s wait and watch, what difference or development this SIM card has in store for us.
