Football is an honest game. It is true to life. It is a game about sharing. Football is a team game. So is life.

I am a football noob who is trying to fit into conversations at social gatherings. Honestly speaking, I do not know the difference between soccer and football. I cannot connect to the entire Messi vs. Ronaldo debate. Ronaldo is better than Messi or Messi is better than Ronaldo was always the first comment to any post (literally any post) on Facebook. I would often get terrified by the heated and intense arguments over the comments section. The only time I ever garnered interest for FIFA was when Shakira sang Waka Waka in 2010.

My interest in football kicked in ( pun intended) when India won the Intercontinental cup ( hypocritical of me, I know.) Sunil Chhetri is the fifth footballer that I know of after David Beckham, Messi, Rooney and Ronaldo ( arranged in no particular order, please do not attack me).

World Cup 2018 is hosted by Russia. There are 32 teams taking part in this football tournament. Germany is the defending champion after their win against Argentina back in 2014. Other teams and their fans hope to dethrone Germany. Fifa 2018 is surely going to be a nail-biting experience for its fans all over the world.

India is undoubtedly hooked to the football fever. Khamba (alias for Gursimran Khamba) is the founder of the Indian comedy sketch group, All India Bakchod (AIB) and a proud pet owner of Peachpreet Khamba. Peachpreet Khamba is his pet dog who predicts the winner of every FIFA match. East India Comedy, another Indian comedy sketch group in collaboration with Budweiser kickstarted a series titled, The Offside Buds. It offers a post-match analysis in a humorous manner for all the football geeks.

India has never had an official representation in the World Cup until this watershed moment. The 10-year-old boy from Andhra Pradesh expressed his joy by saying the following, “I am so excited, you cannot measure it even. It is like I am still dreaming. In Russia, I want to live every moment. During the match, I just don’t want to enjoy but analyze how they play.”The captain of the Indian football team, Sunil Chhetri has reportedly performed trials for the same the past month. Quoting Sunil Chhetri, “I am overwhelmed to see the kind of talent these little kids have. They are not only just passionate about the game but are also well-versed in its nuances.”
